Behind schedual

Well I spent a little too much time making background sprites and reigning the jumping physics. So I am a little behind where I want to be. I guess it is time to start cutting features. Since I am satisfying the wish(s) with a ninja swords elf I am going to cut tower defense, sorry.

Right now I am doing the Yeti/ bad guy sprites. If I get them Implemented by the end of the day, I should be good.

Almost completed

The level generator has been tweaked, game over condition and highscore chart added, and the tileset and background and in place. All that remains are choosing the proper sound effects, and making a few adjustments to the AI.

Boring

The scroll is working fine, the terrain is working fine, the player can collect the gifts scattered in the level, but there’s nothing more. What I have right now is pretty boring. Unless I can add something to make it at least a bit fun, I’ll have to think whether I should submit a crappy entry or don’t submit it at all.

Fixed a fatal bug, and polished it a little.

There was a hidden bug in the game that I did not see until I tested it in another computer. It was fatal. I fixed it, and everything runs smoothly :)

Baddies done

I finished implementing the bad guys and am starting on drawing the worker elves. The food chain goes as such:
Player kills Yeti with his sword.
Yeti kill worker elves with their fists.
If too many worker elves die player is forced to commit Sepuku.

Once I have the worker elves implemented I need to generate a couple levels featuring interesting scenery, and bundle it all together with some sort of title screen.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Crude Game

Yeah, I’ve got about 30 hours left. 14 of those hours are spent sleeping and 10 more at work, leaving me about six hours to finish the game (given I don’t give up any sleep). It’s very crude right now, but there’s a bit of gameplay under the hood, surprisingly. I’m pretty much trying to make it look pretty, building levels and fixing bugs at this point.

Finally decided to write to my blog here, heh.

Yay, this day´s good! Got a new Internet Connection and submitted my entry! I can´t wait to see who´s my Santa tomorrow!

Failed

There’s still 20 hours left on ChristmasHack, but I don’t think I’ll be able to work on my entry so, having a crappy boring entry, I guess I better won’t submit that.

Done!

AI is fixed, background stars added, sounds ironed out, several bugs found and removed, and the last of the graphical kinks are removed out.

It’s done! Yay!

Level design

Finished the last game play element. Now I am starting the level design process. I think I am gong to have two tutorial levels, then eight levels of progressive difficulty.

Still need to make a menu system.

Hopefully I will have time to play test this.
